Key West Itinerary

A wonderful three to five day trip for couples or friends and for the young or old.

5 O’clock Somewhere
We celebrated our first anniversary down in the Keys. The trip was much inspired, by the man himself Jimmy Buffet and of course the Netflix serious Bloodline. We saved a ton of money by driving down to the Keys. Yes, you read that correctly we drove. Driving from Alabama it was 12 hours with stops, and it was completely worth every minute. Before we knew it, we had a drink in our hand, and were watching the sun set in the most beautiful landscape.

Anytime of day or night take a stroll down Duval Street and enjoy the sites! In Key West there is everything for the tourist or outdoors-man to do. This is one of the my favorite places I have ever visited. There is so much to do, we have been twice. Once snorkeling for a short stay and one for a longer relaxing vacation.

Yummy Eats:

Grab a drink at Fat Tuesdays, as you walk down Duval Street. If a game and a beer is your scene, then  Jack Flats is the place for you. They have excellent wings and a large beer selection. I am not joking about watching a game, they do not play. They have tv’s and projection screen’s everywhere. We love our football down here in the south, and this was great place to watch all the games.

Do you remember the famous Sloppy Joe’s in the movie Fools Gold? Well it is a fantastic place! They have live music often, and you better get there early if you want a table! You could always stand around awkwardly, until you persuade someone to give up a table. Since it was just my husband and I, we were able to squeeze in and enjoy good food and live music.

There are many other food options around town for anytime of day.

Carolines, Flying Monkey, and Hogs Breath are all a must to visit while visiting Key West.

Okay, Okay, Okay. Out all of the places I have mentioned, they do not touch my favorite restaurant. Latitudes is a one of a kind experience, that everyone needs to experience once their life.

There is a ferry that will take you over to the restaurant, from the main island. As you are seated, the waiter will offer to photograph the table outside as the sun sets. I thought this was so nice and convenient, that we did not have to ask. If you can take your view away from the breathtaking view, your food will be AMAZING. I had lobster and my husband had the steak and shrimp special for the evening. It was mouth watering goodness. I will forlorn this place is a splurge. I mean there is a boat that taxis you over to the restaurant splurge, but oh so worth it.

THE CABANA INN

I will stay here again any day of the week. This BnB is about a block and a half off of Duval St. We were so happy, that we were not staying above one of the local with the music late at night. This was a perfect location. It was just far enough to be quit, but close enough for an easy walk in heels.

The Cabana Inn had the best amenities. The Inn offers a pool for lounging, and a wine and cheese happy hour. Probably the most important that I have not mentioned is that there is AC in every room and the Inn has parking! This place is awesome and I will recommend this it to anyone no matter their age.

There is so much more to do in Key West, FL besides eat and sleep I promise. You can take a family friendly trip to the beach, or a relatively inexpensive deep sea fishing trip off of the Continental Shelf. Due to its close proximity it is relatively closer, than many deep sea fishing excursions offered in the Gulf of Mexico. So kick back and put your feet up for a breezy sunny vaca in the Florida Keys.
